I finished these socks last night while waiting for the kids to brush their teeth and settle down. It’s the usual basic pattern that I use from Ann Budd’s Knitters Handy Book of Patterns, except I did a “star toe” instead. That meant decreasing at 6 points around the toe in ever-decreasing circles. I like the result and I’m hoping that it’ll mean they’ll wear out more slowly. I had already started the decreasing on the toe last night when I realised I’d forgotten to add in the woolly nylon, so one sock has a little less reinforcement than the other!
My new book, Custom Knits, arrived a few days ago from Amazon.ca. I didn’t have to spend much time checking it over, as it’s identical to the library book I just had, but it’s so lovely to receive a new book in the mail and I can’t wait to knit something from it.
However, it’ll have to wait, as I have a shawl and a pair of socks planned for the immediate future, which will be my holiday knitting when we go away in August. I just checked the tracking for my parcel and Canada Post says that it is out for delivery so I think it will arrive today. I love elann‘s efficiency – order Wednesday, mail it out Thursday, arrive Monday – sounds good to me. I’ll tell you more about the shawl pattern when the yarn gets here.
And finally, here’s a cute bookmark I found in Chapters last week when Tai Chi Man and I went out for a cup of tea and browse around the books. I just HAD to buy it!
You can see why, can’t you?
