48 hour socks

Thanks to lots of available knitting time on Friday while the kids were snowboarding, I finished these socks in two days. Swatched and cast on Thursday evening, knitted like crazy for hours on Friday, then finished and grafted the toes tonight. Here they are modelled by ds3. The yarn is Drops Big Fabel, a worsted weight sock yarn made from..ahem..wool and polyamide. Yes, I bought wool, but I have an excuse! My mother-in-law just had a toe removed and she lives in a cold damp house and I decided that she needed warm wool socks. These were knitted on 4mm needles at an approximate gauge of 5 stitches to the inch. Basic Sock Pattern from The Knitters Handy Book of Patterns. Women’s size Small – only 36 stitches around, so really quick and easy!

I’m having to retype this – this new mouse that came with our iMac has a tendency to do things I don’t want. Like horizontally change screens, or suddenly whoosh everything really BIG. Somehow I managed to lose everything that I typed before. Hmmm, I bet there’s an Autosave around somewhere – now why didn’t I think of that before?

Anyway, we’ve had a very foggy week. The Saskatchewanians around here have been threatening to cash in their air miles and fly to the sun, wherever it may be. The freezing fog has made for some very beautiful ice crystals on nearly everything above ground.
