Hello Kitty

Standard

This is the hat I made yesterday, inspired by the images of Hello Kitty I see around. I Googled images to get it as close as possible to the original. It was fun to figure out how to make the eyes, nose and whiskers, and the bow was easy – I searched the patterns on Ravelry and found the perfect one. On my Ravelry project page, I call this “Hello Katty”, or maybe it could be “Greetings Feline.”

The ears are the same ones as on the Sock Monkey hat, just placed differently. Again, 6.5mm crochet hook, Kertzer Northern Chunky. I weighed the Sock Monkey hat and it took about 85 grams of yarn, so I assume this is about the same. I was about to say I “cast on” but this is crochet, so what would be the term for that? I started it while at my friend’s house yesterday – the main part of the hat was done by the time I left a couple of hours later. In the evening, the earflaps and the extras were made and attached. I was enjoying the process so much it was 1am before I went to bed (I was out earlier in the evening).

I bought two balls of white, one of pink, one of black and one of grey – two hats made and I probably have enough for two more. Now, what next?
