puerperium cardigan

Standard

Ravelry Pattern Link.

Specs: Less than one 100 gram skein of Knitpicks Brava Worsted, colour Persimmon, 100% acrylic. 4.5mm/US#7 needles. 7 little wooden buttons.

This took me four days – I cast on for it Sunday morning on our mini road trip and bound off last night, Wednesday. A cute little top-down raglan, the sizing is supposed to be for a newborn, though I used a worsted rather than the recommended DK so I think this may have come out about an inch wider. It’ll fit the baby longer that way, right?!

Knitting this little garment on #7 needles was quite hard on the hands. It was knitted flat, so I would work the knit rows Continental and the purl rows English to keep my tension constant. My Continental purling is looser and I get an uneven stockinette. It was a good exercise and made me realise that when I make a larger garment for myself I will use a #8 needle.

I’ll tuck it away for when my friend’s baby is born.
