I have visited Michaels a few times recently. While ds3 has been indoor rock climbing, I have had the opportunity to go the nearby stores, and today I visited both Michaels and Fabricland.
Even if I am in possession of a 40% off coupon I won’t necessarily buy anything. It has to really appeal and be something I know I will use. So I went in there thinking that if I saw a variegated yarn that would make good cellphone cosies I would consider buying one skein with the coupon.
Well, Michaels own brand, Loops and Threads Charisma, was discounted to almost half price, and I liked the colours well enough to get five balls. I considered using the coupon to get a new quilting ruler as my 6 x 24 inch one is about 15 years old now, and the lines are wearing off. However opposite the rulers were the crochet hooks, and I decided on a set of 8 Boye aluminum crochet hooks, sized from 3.25mm up to 6.5mm.
I really like crocheting with the couple of coloured aluminum hooks that I already have. Plastic is nowhere near as slick. So I will get the ruler next time there’s a coupon in the flyer.
The yarn colourways are
Black raspberry
Lakeside
Toadstool
Bouquet
Sunny day
The Charisma is a bulky yarn, 109 yards to a 3.5 oz ball, 100% acrylic and feels nice and soft. I think it will be good for cell cosies as it has long colour changes.
I’ve been using Loops & Thread Impeccable and really liked it so just bought some more as it was on sale as well. The Charisma looks like it will be good for creating cozies.
